Benson Lin

WPI B.S./M.S. Computer Science, May 2026 · Open to relocating

Software engineer building reliable full-stack products with Python, FastAPI, Java, Spring Boot, and PostgreSQL.

Sponsored Microsoft Intune capstone: HMM-based UI friction detection at 90.1% F1.

Open to entry-level Software Engineer and Full-Stack Engineer roles.

Backend systems, concurrency controls, and the products built on top of them.

Three projects covering transactional inventory flows, anti-abuse community platforms, and telemetry and incident systems.

Where I've worked

Aug 2025 — Mar 2026

Microsoft Intune (Sponsored MQP)

Capstone Software Engineer

  • Built a Python event-stream pipeline that captures real-time Win32 UI events and converts them into semantic workflow graphs for detecting user friction and UI latency.
  • Combined heuristic detectors with a Hidden Markov Model sequence detector (Baum-Welch training, Viterbi decoding) into a single workflow-level detection system, reaching 90.1% F1 (92.8% precision, 87.6% recall) on a human-labeled dataset.
  • Cut false positives by 65% through threshold tuning and failure analysis of dead-click inflation and application-error blind spots.

SerenDPT (Venice Project Center IQP)

Software Developer

  • Wrote Python and Node.js scripts to collect, clean, and validate infrastructure and rental data across 126 historic islands for a Venice Project Center study.

Portrait of Benson Lin

I’m a WPI B.S./M.S. Computer Science graduate. I'm most interested in software where the hard part isn't just writing the endpoint, but deciding how the system should behave when things fail, overlap, or get messy. Most of my recent work has been backend-heavy, although I usually build the frontend too because I like seeing the whole product come together.

I also build games on the side. Dao Hold is a mobile roguelite I'm developing.

Open to software engineering roles across the U.S. and remote.
